Biography

Pierre KIHN after having spent one year in Kansas City (MO) USA as foreign exchange student, graduated as a chemical engineer from the University of Louvain, Belgium.

He joined the firm in 1992. He passed the European Qualifying Examination and is admitted to practice before the European Patent Office (EPO), the Luxembourg Patent Office (LPO), the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM)and the Benelux Trademark and Design Office (BOIP). Pierre is also registered with the French Patent and Trademark Office (INPI) and with the Belgium Patent Office (OPRI).

Since February 2009, he is the CEO of Office Freylinger.

Pierre handles the firm's patent work related in particular to the chemical, biochemical and pharamceutcial and metallurgical field. He is further involved in a number of opposition proceedings and pleaded cases before Opposition Division and Appeal Division of the European Patent Office. Pierre also coordinates infringement cases in the United States of America, in Canada, in the United Kingdom, in Germany and in Italy.

He is versed in preparing legal agreements in the IP-field, more specifically, secrecy agreements, cooperation and license agreements.

He is also in charge of the Firm’s SPC cases, one of which was pleaded before the European Court of Justice.

Pierre regularly gives lectures on IP-Law subjects to 3rd year engineering students at the University of Luxembourg as well as in an MBA course of ICN (Nancy, France).
