Henri graduated as a chemical engineer from the University of Louvain, Belgium. Throughout his studies, he had the opportunity not only to gain theoretical knowledge in life sciences in general, but especially practical expertise in process control, environmental sciences, toxicology, renewable energies, pollution prevention and ecological recovery.

His dissertation about the assessment of near infrared (NIR) attenuated total reflection (ATR) in the spectrometric inline food quality monitoring allowed him to gain experience in methods and instrumentation for chemical, physical and microbiological analysis of food.
Henri first worked as a self-employed technical translator, mainly translating patent specifications and technical documentations in a large number of fields, especially organic and biochemistry, pharmaceutics, genetics, cosmetics, detergents and computer related documents.

After having worked free-lance for nearly 10 years, Henri joined the Firm in October 2001. He obtained the qualification of a Luxembourg patent agent and of professional representative before the Benelux Office for Intellectual Property and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in 2003. He passed the European Qualification Examination and was admitted to practise as professional representative before the European Patent Office in 2007. Henri is also registered with the French Patent and Trademark Office (INPI) and with the Belgian Patent Office (OPRI).
He currently handles the Firm’s patent work in the fields of chemistry, pharmaceutics, cosmetics, detergents, biochemistry, biology and genetics. He is involved in several opposition proceedings and pleaded before Opposition Division of the European Patent Office.

Since January 2009, he is Head of the Patents Department and is responsible for the management of the patent attorneys related activities, including creation and management of global patent portfolios, advising and counselling on patentability of inventions, on infringement and validity of patents and on patent strategy and conflicts. Henri is also in charge of the Firm’s SPC and paediatric SPC cases.
